Wow, was today a great day. I went to church with some Craft Center people who attend Unity Church in Cookeville. A bunch of cool grandparents where there. I liked how that church stresses meditation. It was one of the few services I have gone to where the topic dealt with sexuality and did not annoy me. I will probably go back. After service they had a Chakra cleansing thing. It was interesting(yup, I tried it). There was a drum circle at Cummins Falls. We had about 11 people. Cummins Falls is such a beautiful place. Tennessee has some amazing places. We where on some large rocks besides the fall, overlooking and high above the area that is good for swimming. Some people came by and went repelling off the rocks. There were different drums, three didgeridoos, panpipes, a flute, and some other small percussion instruments. It was fun learning how to drum and experimenting. We were there for at least four hours. The experience rated pretty high on the hippie scale (drums, herbal not-really-tea tea, dude in indian manskirt...) The whole day made me feel very at peace and at home. I feel inspired to learn how to play the mandolin.

The two studio classes I am taking are Intro to Fibers and Intro to Metals. Last night I dyed some cotton broadcloth for the first time. It turned out well. The dye I used was Blue Violet but I had to do a light dye so it came out lavender. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I have those classes from about 1 to 8.

There were three men came out of the west, Their fortunes for to try, And these three men made a solemn vow: John Barleycorn must die. I am settled at school and have finished my first week. Things are working out wonderfully. I decided to have a light class load my first semester and my roommate is great. The housing at the Appalachian Center for Craft is way better than the housing on main campus(Tennessee Technological Univ). I went to mass last Saturday, to see what it was like. It was interesting, the singing was nice. I did not like the huge, well made sculpture of Jesus being crucified though, it was unnerving.
